Ensure your trailer brakes are working properly to avoid penalties and fines, and stay safe on the road. Properly functioning braking systems are a legal requirement on all trailers, caravans, horse floats and towed vehicles. Having your trailer braking systems checked regularly keeps your brakes working as they should and could help you to avoid fines and an accident.
What Braking System Do I Need?
According to regulations, single-axle trailers with a gross mass of 750kg or less don’t require a braking system. However, as most caravans exceed this weight limit, if you tow a caravan, chances are you’ll need to have a braking system installed. For trailers with a gross mass of 2,000kg or less, brakes must be installed in the control vehicle and operated from the driver’s seat, with electric brakes and breakaway system a requirement for trailers 2,000kgs and over. Whatever the size of your trailer, we can install the required braking and override system your trailer or caravan requires.
